1. Who we are
Tia (“Tia”, “we”, “us”) is a trading name of Fig Tree Capital Limited, a company registered in Kenya. We operate a training and hiring platform for the hospitality sector, based in Nairobi and Nanyuki. Fig Tree Capital Limited is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us at privacy@talentin.africa.
2. Information we collect
- Account details: name, email address, phone number, password.
- Profile information: role, skills, work history, languages, location, photos and short videos you upload.
- Verification documents: business licences, national identification and similar records you provide to prove eligibility.
- Learning activity: modules completed, assessment scores and certificates issued.
- Job activity: applications, messages sent to employers, saved roles and matches.
- Technical data: IP address, device type, browser, and pages visited, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
3. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account.
- To match candidates with employers and deliver training.
- To verify the identity of venues and workers on the platform.
- To communicate with you about your account, applications and updates to the service.
- To improve the platform and prevent fraud or misuse.
- To comply with our legal obligations in Kenya and other territories where we operate.
4. Legal basis
We process your information under the Data Protection Act, 2019 of Kenya. The lawful bases we rely on are your consent, performance of a contract with you, our legitimate interests in running the platform safely, and compliance with legal obligations.
5. Sharing your information
We share personal information with:
- Employers you choose to apply to, limited to the details in your public profile and application.
- Service providers that host our infrastructure, send email and process payments, under written contracts.
- Regulators, courts and law-enforcement agencies where we are required to do so by law.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, tax and dispute-resolution requirements. You may request deletion at any time.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, update and delete your personal information, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@talentin.africa.
8. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls and routine backups to protect your data. No online service is completely secure, so we ask you to keep your password confidential and to tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
9. Children
Tia is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified through the platform or by email before they take effect.
